1RNZIR Band Tour Vietnam 1969 - Playing a Sousaphone

An impressed Bdsm John Forrest (back to camera) watches L/Cpl Chris Schnack playing a Sousaphone, November 1969.

The instrument was given to Chris by a member of the 266th US Army Band during a visit by 1RNZIR Band. The 266th Band was based at Tan Son Nhut in Saigon. At that stage Sousaphones were not used by the New Zealand Army Band nor its Malaysian detachment, 1RNZIR Band. They were finally introduced a few years later.
