Enlisted in the Regular Force (RF) in April 1963. Served in Vietnam with Headquarters Vietnam Force (HQ V Force), December 1968 to December 1969. Also completed a non-operational tour to the New Zealand Advanced Ordnance Depot (NZAOD) in Singapore, July 1979 to July 1981. Retired from the New Zealand Army in September 1990 with the rank of Warrant Officer Class 1 (WO1).
