Two street urchins – shoe shine boys – share in a cigar provided by an obliging American serviceman outside the Metropolitan Hotel in Saigon, November 1969. Note the concrete filled drums in the background acting as barriers to possible vehicle ramming of the hotel and the small Military Police guard post outside the door. MPs manning the post were young, armed to the teeth, and exuded a distinct "twitchy" disposition.
