Mascots have long been a part of the military, and Vietnam was no exception. Here representatives from the Army, Navy and Airforce can be seen holding their puppy mascots.

From left: Naval MPO T.F. Maguire from the Navy, Army SSgt G.T. Palenski, and Air Force Sgt M.B.R. Knox at the New Zealand Services Medical Team hospital at Bong Son, South Vietnam in 1970.

The mother of the pups was a stray dog adopted by members of the 1st New Zealand Services Medical Team and named 'Kiwi'.
