Enlisted in the New Zealand Army in 1963 as Regular Force (RF) Cadet In Bennett Class. Graduated in 1965 into Royal New Zealand Army Ordnance Corps (RNZAOC) as an Ammunition Technician. Served in Headquarters Vietnam Force (HQ V Force) in Vietnam, 1969–1970. Officer Commanding (OC) the New Zealand Advanced Ordnance Depot (NAZOD) in Singapore, 1982–1984, Chief Instructor, RNZAOC School, 1985–1986, and Chief Ammunition Technical Officer, 1986–1988. Retired at the rank of Major. Wrote A History of the Royal New Zealand Army Ordnance Corps in 1992. Died in Upper Hutt.
