Member of the 1st Battalion, New Zealand Regiment/1st Battalion, Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment Band (1RNZIR), November 1963 to November 1965, including tour to Borneo. Drum Major 1RNZIR band visit to Vietnam 27 October to 2 November 1969. Retired from the Army in 1983 at the rank of Lieutenant (temporary Captain).
