I was born in Hastings, HB the eldest son of a family consisting of an older sister and 5 younger brothers. I attended Omahu School and began school with a teacher I knew as Mrs Henderson - who is a well known writer "Sylvia Ashton Warner". I attended CCNZ in Hamilton and after completing the sixth form with School C and UE, I eventually joined the NZ Army. I did Basic 55 in early 1967 Waiouru MC. Corp Training in Burnham MC later the same year 1967. I was part of the group that went to Terendak MC in Malaysia late 1967 and became a member of the original Whiskey Company in Oct/Nov 1967. I served in Sth Vietnam with W Coy 1967, Maj Hotop was CO. I was in 3 Sec 2 Pl.
I have been operating a site www.wcoy.net for several years now which has become the official site for Whiskey Company.
The site is specifically about what W Coy was involved in during our time in Vietnam - Dec 1967 until Dec 1968. I have Included in the poem area poems that refer to incidents regarding matters that are related to our time in Vietnam. There are also a few links to other sites however they are only a few as mentioned earlier because this site is specifically for our time in Vietnam as Whiskey Company.
After leaving the army I began working in the security industry. Eventually I studied at Victoria University Wellington achieving a Masters Degree and a BEd. I taught at VUW, the Open Polytechnic, Weltec and Te Waanaga o Aotearoa. I am now retired and involve myself now with writing.
